ForeverLM for Claude

Study your own library from inside Claude.

ForeverLM is a personal knowledge library: the papers, books, articles, podcasts and videos you are actually working through, with your projects and learning journeys built on top. This connector lets Claude read that library and help you plan, study, and review against it, without you pasting sources into the chat.

Before you start

You need a ForeverLM account with at least one source in your library. Sources are added on the Mac app, on iPhone, or in the Web Studio; the connector reads the library you already have rather than creating one.

Your library syncs through your own private iCloud container, so the connector reaches your data only after you authorize it.

Setting up the connector

  1. In Claude, open Settings › Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Enter the ForeverLM server URL:
https://plugin.foreverlm.com/mcp
  1. Claude opens a ForeverLM authorization page. Sign in with the Apple Account your library belongs to.
  2. Approve the requested access. Claude confirms the connector is connected, and the ForeverLM tools become available in new conversations.

The connector uses OAuth 2.0. ForeverLM never receives your Claude conversation history, and Claude never receives your ForeverLM password. Authorization happens through Sign in with Apple.

Disconnecting

Remove the connector in Settings › Connectors at any time. Access stops immediately; nothing in your library is changed by disconnecting.

Example prompts

Each of these exercises a different part of the tool surface.

Find something you half-remember Search my ForeverLM library for what I’ve read about mitochondrial biogenesis, and summarize where the sources disagree.
Plan a study block Build me a two-week learning journey in ForeverLM from the papers in my “Protein Design” project, about an hour a day, and put the review papers first.
Review what you actually understood Start a Feynman-style review session on today’s ForeverLM sources. Ask me to explain each one in my own words, then tell me where my explanation was thin.
Work against one source Pull the full text of the Karplus paper from my ForeverLM library and walk me through its methods section as if I were going to reproduce it.
Catch up on what you saved What did I add to ForeverLM this week, and which of it is still unread?

What the tools do

The connector exposes 30 tools. Fifteen are read-only and can run without a per-call prompt; fifteen write to your library and ask for confirmation each time.

Your data

The connector reads and writes only your ForeverLM library, through your own private iCloud container. It does not read your Claude conversation history, memory, or files, and it does not collect conversation data beyond what a tool call needs to do its job.

Full detail is in the ForeverLM Privacy Policy, including what is stored, for how long, and how to delete it.

Troubleshooting

Claude says the server is unavailable

Ask Claude to run get_mcp_status. If it reports the server is not active, reconnect the connector in Settings › Connectors.

A source is missing

The connector reads what has finished syncing. A source added moments ago on another device may still be uploading; open ForeverLM on that device and let it finish.

A tool keeps asking for confirmation

That is expected for the fifteen write tools. Only read-only tools can run without a per-call prompt.
